Insert month and year Fishing Report
Hello again fellow fishes, well another month has past us by again with the weather on and off over the holiday break and some glassed out days for fishing were taken full advantage of. With the current still running at a good 2 knots out wide, the decision to fishing the closer grounds up Fraser Island again on the moon at night is still a great option at this time of the year.
There have been excellent catches of quality scarlets using fresh whole local caught squid. Pearl perch with the odd red thrown in were landed on fresh mullet slabs and a few large snapper drifting around in the mid water smashed floaters and fresh pillys baited on a two hook rig.
While all the time on the bottom there was an endless supply of huge estuary cod to 22kg- caught mainly on live tailor. We managed to snap a couple of rods in the process on these big fish which proved costly as they were Live Fibres! Closer to the bar, spotties are starting to show up in numbers with some hitting the 6kg mark- mixed in with plenty of sharks! I mentioned last time of a wreck off Noosa. It has proved very fruitful with good catches of grass sweetlip, snapper, scarlets, large cod and even reds up to 7kg and in 28 meters of water, great fun! I managed to fish the back of the king tide the other day with the current running at up to 4knots at one stage. the fishing was terrible with the fish being boated good ones,
just not many of them, so hopefully better times ahead.
Lets hope we get a flood this year as the estuary systems could do with a good flush out and give the reef species some much needed tucker.
Well that’s it for another month
“Go on get out there”.
