October 2007 Fishing Report
Hi fishos another month has slipped by again as we head closer to Christmas and closer to the transition period from bottom species to pelagic activity.
There has been large numbers of cobia or black king fish working close to the bar with one patch of monsters coming on board up to 28kg.
Still some good reefies about although we are having to work hard for them in those northerly winds. One trip produced some nice reds to 16.5 kg which kept these regular punters very happy. The current has been all over the place but yes its that time of the year so if your heading out and wanting to do the miles try and check with some body before hand otherwise it’s a long travel to be disappointed when you arrive to find the current roaring and you cant get your baits into the strike zone.
Soft plastics have been working well when the fish are finicky and wont touch natural baits on those oily carm days when you no the fish are down there but they just wont bite, you just need some thing to excite them into biting, soft plastics are working.
Lets hope we get some more serious rain before Christmas to take us into next year with a good start.
Till next time
“go on get out there”
