Insert month and year Fishing Report
Hi again Ivan Jensen here for another round up of what’s been happening in our great state on the offshore fishing seen.
Well the current has been at its usual up and down not knowing when its up or down until your out there having burning up juice having a look.
On the fishing scene, snapper off the hards on the 80-90 metre ledge of the top end of the barwons and is still producing some good catches of snapper to 6kg a lot around the 3kg mark.
Had a good run on pearly’s the other day on a pro trip with good pearly’s to 3kg not big but plenty of them.
On the home scene the sharks are still hungry on the shelf taking some quality fish and leaving us a few to put in the box.
Found a 4 ounce jig head the other day and coupled with the chickens it produced a nice red of 12.2kg on the first drop over a bait school in the middle of no where on the run out to the shelf.
Some nice gold spots and parrot have been showing up out wide in the current run, using a 1kg sinker on a rod is no fun but it did produce the fish.
Mangrove jack in the middle of the day was a surprise but welcome catch.
My young bloke is on school holidays at the moment and has been coming on the odd pro trip and as usual is showing up the oldies with some nice snapper.
As you may have guessed charters are finished till next may(08), I rely on repeat customers and not the tourist trade, and believe at this time of the year the current run is to unpredictable the weather changes so quickly and the bottom fish go off the chew. I take my customers to catch fish not to take there money off with poor fishing.
Untill next month
“go on get out there.”
