Febuary 2008 Fishing Report
Ivan Jensen here again for another offshore report , well the winds and rain have not let up this week making conditions not favourable for offshore but a small window of opportunity last Friday – Saturday led to a quick 15 nm trip out for some very healthy snapper, the best ive seen for this time of the year.
Still the odd sweetlip mixed in and pearl perch higher in the water column. The wa pilchard still proving the best baits along with local squid.
Bar conditions were still up on Friday pumping around the 2 metre mark and breaking right across on the outer bank but by Saturday had dropped off for the run back in. We watched a good light show at night as storms and lightning banged the mainland from Mooloolaba through to about Bauple for hours.
“Tip for the week”. Always check with the local marine rescue for changes in bar conditions before heading out, tell some body were your going and what time your expected back, and if not sure once you have reached the bar turn around and go back theirs no shame in staying alive to fish another day.
Till next week
“go on get out there”
